Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
